The new you
A poem
Some times when we are hurting,
we forget to count our blessings, forget our loved ones, forget ourselves in the process
sometimes when the healing is not complete
we blame circumstances, the other person, everything and everyone
even when the silver line is clear, radiant, in front of us, we are in our heads, fogged up with the memory of the past hurt
frozen in time, unable to move on, to process, to forgive
sometimes when we are hurting
we become our own worst enemies, we become intolerable, we become negative
sometimes when we are hurting we forget who is in control
that there is a power beyond us, that this hurt is temporary
that with strength and perseverance we can conquer it all
that the power is within us and was always within us
sometimes when we are hurting we forget it all
we forget we are loved, that we are valued and cared for
sometimes when we are hurting, we hurt our loved ones
eventually a time does come when you realize that the struggles let you be
some one — a kinder soul
the reflection in the mirror is battered but is proud
the battle of the mind is the hardest to win
to be contend with the mini wins is a step forward
in the process you learn to love your flaws
who you are, how you have grown as a person, is a journey, a thousand tiny steps you must embark on alone
gratitude and self compassion will get you through the toughest times and finally you take a sigh of relief
you finally understand — a set of tests and trials
you embrace the becoming of the new ‘you’
